The Construction product regulation (CPR) forcables is coming to the Security Industry. This will be a mandatory requirement for any fixed installation cablewhere it is to be used in the construction or fabric of a building. Theregulation will introduce a CE mark to allow free movement of goods in the EUensuring consistent quality.
With new rules being implemented by theEuropean Commission (EC), construction products – including cabling for fixedinstallations – can no longer be used in European buildings or civil engineeringworks if they are not tested and certified according to the new ConstructionProducts Regulation (CPR) rules.
Which cables are involved in CPR?
All power,control and communication cables that are installed in fixed installations inbuildings and other civil engineering works.
From the 1stJuly 2017, all fixed installation cable put onto the market in the EU for theconstruction market, will require the manufacturer to prepare and haveavailable a declaration of performance (DOP) to a declared Euro class levels ofperformance.
